So Much More Than a Story

My name is Matt Slotemaker. I’m the owner and founder of 12 Acre Films.

In 2014 my wife and I were lucky enough to buy a 12 acre property outside the city limits. I had a “regular” job at the time, working as a videographer for a travel company. In 2015 they laid me off and shut down soon after.

Faced with the option of moving to a larger metro to find another in-house job or stay here and forge my own path, we decided to take a leap of faith and give entrepreneurship a shot.

The name, 12 Acre Films, was a natural choice. We love where we live and have no plans of leaving, just as there are no plans to work for someone else again. And now with 4 kids and a cat. I can say that we are a happy family with lots to keep us busy.

That’s not to say the path of starting this business was smooth. The struggles and stresses, especially early on, were necessary to forge my skill as a video producer and business owner, navigating new challenges and continuing to adapt as I adapt to the current state of the pandemic and client needs.
